San Diego Comic-Con 2014

Some other quick notes before you leave... my science fiction short film MARS-II screens in Detroit (USA) in the Official Selection of the Detcon1 Film Festival in a few days on Saturday 19th of July at 7:14pm as part of 'Science Fiction & Fantasy Shorts #4'.
Also, following my blog about three art film commissions on the horizon, I have now successfully completed production on them. Phew! The first of which is completed and online (see left), a documentary for my 'Videos For Artists' web series, shot at BARBICAN CENTRE. My film for 'Filthy Lucre: Lost In The Nameless City' where I interpreted London's urban spaces with video/photography screened
at the event a few days ago and was met with a resounding ovation from the audience. I will be writing a separate blog about the making of the film very soon, sharing images of the process and research behind it, as it developed from ideas into a finished piece of work - - - I returned from Denmark about a week ago, and having gone there to shoot two films, I returned with FOUR!! I shot at a rarely captured place called Vallo Castle, dance on a beautiful Copenhagen beach and at a converted Chapel, now a dance studio: Danse Kapellet. There'll be more on these exciting finished or near completed film projects in an upcoming blog post.
'A Film By Abigail' Invited to be Opening Film of the 'London Short Film Special' at Internationales FilmFest Emden|Norderney In Germany
A film by abigail
INVITED TO BE Opening Film of the
London Short Film Special
at 25th Internationales FilmFest Emden | Norderney in Germany
I've kept it under wraps for a little while now, but just after A FILM BY ABIGAIL screened at the London Short Film Festival 2014, I recieved an invite to submit to German film festival INTERNATIONALES FILMFEST EMDEN|NORDERNEY. One of the perks of being in the LSFF fold, is that they're very active and connected with other short film platforms for continual potential exposure. The short documentary was spotted by the German festival's short film programmer when it screened at the ICA. When I was officially told it was in (not always a done deal...) I was informed that it was going to be a part of the 'London Short Film Special' program - which is a curated screening of highlights from LSFF 2014 and presented by the festival director Philip Ilson. Not only that, but Abigail would also be the opening film for it!!!
International Filmfest Emden-Norderney is one of Germany’s most nationally acclaimed and internationally recognised film festivals. With over 100 films on 7 screens it is primarily a major audience festival for its 22,000 or so visitors.
OFFICIAL SELECTION at WONDERCON presented by COMIC-CON INTERNATIONAL for my documentary 'A FILM BY ABIGAIL'! [UPDATED WITH SCHEDULE]
WONDERCON ANAHEIM INT. CHILDREN'S FILM FESTIVAL
PRESENTED BY COMIC-CON INTERNATIONAL
A FILM BY ABIGAIL will be in the official selection at the WonderCon Anaheim International Children's Film Festival 2014 at WONDERCON 2014, the sister event to the globally renowned SAN DIEGO COMIC-CON INTERNATIONAL! "Comic-Con" is an incredibly exciting event to be associated with, as it has become a huge destination for new films, panels and announcements; possibly the biggest for genre film and TV in the entire world. The inclusion in this WonderCon film festival programme comes from the umbrella of the LA International Children's Film Festival and their desire to keep pushing the film at their associated events. Take a look at the slideshow below for examples of the event; as I'm writing this I've just seen how big the scale of it is... a LOT of people and some famous faces too!
Look out for at least three more film festival announcements for the film coming in the next few weeks/months. Once details and confirmations are absolutely clarified for me, I'll be revealing them ASAP! It appears that this film is not set to run out of steam on the circuit just yet moving into 2014!
Thanks for reading and please follow me (I'll follow you back!) on Twitter @PaulEVernon if you're on there and we'll connect or whatever, I'm friendly!

'A FILM BY ABIGAIL' SCREENS FOR LONDON SHORT FILM FESTIVAL 2014 AT INSTITUTE OF CONTEMPORARY ARTS (+ A NEW INTERVIEW) - 13/01/2014
'A FILM BY ABIGAIL' SCREENS AT ICA FOR
11TH LONDON SHORT FILM FESTIVAL
Fresh screenings could be on the horizon too. The BAFTA-recognised festival, priding itself on helping filmmakers and their work, asked to have a video link to the film for potential forwarding to other events/festivals/institutions for future programming. This is an incredibly exciting added bonus to an already excellent film festival that holds networking opportunities and workshops, as well as it's individually curated selections of solely British short films.
A FILM BY ABIGAIL is a short documentary about a child discussing an idea for a film she wishes to create. Recently it was a part of the official selection at the 9th LOS ANGELES INTERNATIONAL CHILDREN'S FILM FESTIVAL (screening at the prolific Los Angeles County Museum of Art) and was award nominated in the RNC Special Selection at the THIS IS ENGLAND - ENGLISH SHORT FILM FESTIVAL OF ROUEN. Read more about the film and myself in the interview/article FUTURE FILMMAKERS conducted by Leeds-List.
I can also partially announce that another screening is likely taking place overseas in Denmark! Watch this space for more info on this soon... Follow the progress of the rest of the London Short Film Festival (on until the 19th across the capital) on Twitter @LSFF and to keep up-to-date or chat, follow me @PaulEVernon
