MARS-II Invited to Hush Hush Film Night / The Base
Hush Hush Film Night logo
Hello stranger and welcome to my blog. As I type... the rain beats against the window, a child is angry they've been taken to Costa after a hard day at school and that machine used to make smoothies or "ice coolers" is just really really unnecessarily noisy. The summer has clearly ran away and the refreshing British weather is back!
It's always really rewarding to be accepted into a festival or event, the feeling of validation from another filmmaker or judge that they're saying "YES" we want your film and "YES" we want you to represent us - it's truly generous and uplifting. Though I've found recently, it can feel even better when someone discovers and approaches you of their own accord. A few weeks ago the HUSH HUSH FILM NIGHT e-mailed me about my body of work and requested to screen MARS-II at their event on the 26th of September this month! The evening event is set up to help expose and celebrate Leeds-based and affiliated filmmakers with currently six films set to screen (more TBA). Hush Hush will take place at music/visual arts studio THE BASE and is ran by Champion Up North who aim to "support the professional development of musicians and artists in Leeds".
Hello again! It's been a short while since my last blog entry and I'm pleased to return with good news via an e-mail last night! My science fiction short film 'MARS-II' has been selected to screen at 'A Short Evening With Films' in Hyderabad, a large city in the South of India. The short film night is set up by Octopus Studios, taking place at the Lamakaan and seems to get quite reasonable audiences at it's open-air screenings. As well as the screening, I will be doing a Skype video 'Q&A' after the film from here in the UK to the audience in India. Although I recieved the acceptance last night, the event is actually only TOMORROW! So not much time to prepare...
I'm going to attempt to record the 'Q&A' and I'll share it if it isn't super embarrassing or a complete disaster! (Hopefully not!) - - In the meantime, check out the map of Hyderabad where the film will screen and photos of the last event they held below.
